Five reasons for cleaning your kitchen equipment

Keeping your kitchen equipment clean might not seem like a huge priority, but did you know you could actually save money by having cleaner equipment?  That's right, maintaining equipment can actually reduce the lifetime cost of a machine.  But how is that possible, you ask?  Let us dive in to the top five reasons why you should keep your innovative kitchen equipment clean and at the end we'll give you two AutoFry cleaning pictorial guides for download, the perfect resource for new employees and training procedures.

Reason One for Cleaning Kitchen Equipment - EfficiencyReason 1 - Efficiency - it shouldn't be any surprise that by keeping your equipment clean you are maintaining the machine to its highest level of efficiency.  When a vent or filter is dirty, the equipment has to work harder to do its job.  If the filter stops working properly, you're going to start effecting other parts of the machine.  For example, a dirty charcoal filter in the AutoFry can stop venting properly and cause a moisture buildup within the machine.  This can lead to mechanical errors down the line and in some instances can kill the machine's keypad. Proper cleaning can prevent this problem, prevent the need to replace parts and inevitably save you money.

Reason Two for Cleaning Kitchen Equipment - SafetyReason 2 - Safety - when grease cakes up in your machine because you haven't done a good job of keeping it clean, do you know what the number one potential safety risk becomes?  Fire.  Now, AutoFry is unique in that it is fully enclosed and ventless with a built in fire suppression system, so you don't have to worry about burning the whole building down.  But you don't want to have to replace a machine because it caught fire, and by cleaning your machine daily and weekly you can greatly reduce this costly risk.

Reason Three for Cleaning Kitchen Equipment - Food TasteReason 3 - Food Taste - ever been to a dingy place, ordered fried food and been able to taste the stale oil the food had been cooked in?  Yah, it's disgusting, and you don't want to be known as the place serving up food with a stale flavor.  By keeping your equipment clean, filtering and changing your oil as part of the cleaning routine, you eliminate any bad flavors that could infiltrate your food, and thus are able to serve up the best tasting food consistently.

Reason Four for Cleaning Kitchen Equipment - LongevityReason 4 - Longer Equipment Life - MTI's equipment has been around for 25 years, and we're proud to report that we have some users still using the same machine that they purchased over 20 years ago.  If you want innovative kitchen equipment to last 10, 15 or even 20 years, you have to be on top of cleaning and routine maintenance.  This means daily and weekly cleaning, as well as changing filters every three and six months (charcoal filters are changed every three months, mesh filters changed every six).   A longer life span means more money saved, and the more you save the more you win the budget battle.

Reason Five for Cleaning Kitchen Equipment - Prevent SicknessReason 5 - Prevent the Spread of Food Born Illness - this one is a no brainer.  Keeping your kitchen clean is food safety rule number one.  And a clean kitchen starts with clean kitchen equipment, you certainly can't neglect to clean the tools you will use to actually cook the food.  A simple cleaning can prevent illness like Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella, Shigella sonnei and rotavirus!
