AutoFry vs Air Fry: Reading Between the Fries

AutoFry vs Air Fry

Air fryers seem to be all the rage these days. Their platform consists of promoting their ability to fry food in a healthier way. Unfortunately, they aren't actually frying food. As the makers of the AutoFry, with thirty years in the fryer business, we like to think we know a thing or two on the subject.

Our AutoFry is an actual fryer, completely automatic, with a fully enclosed oil pot. The name speaks for itself! With this piece of ventless kitchen equipment any business can FRY up delicious food in just minutes, and we all know nothing compares to authentic, deep-fried goodness! It is easy to use and comes in five different sizes.

When it really comes down to it, an air fryer is just a counter top, convection oven that uses a high-powered fan to force the circulation of hot air. While this type of cooking process can deliver crispy food, it is NOT the same as frying. In fact, only a small amount of oil is used in just a portion of air fryer recipes. While this to some extent, does offer a healthier option, the overall finished product doesn't necessarily possess the richness and comfort that fried food should have.

Now, if you are wondering how we became so well versed on this subject, it is because along with the AutoFry we have also been producing top-notch high-speed ovens since the late 1990’s. That’s right, long before there were air fryers, there was the Air Master & MultiChef, which later developed into the MultiChef XL, that we know and love today. This oven works  like the fancy shmancy air fryermultichef-logo, but on a larger scale. High temperatures and forced air prepare everything from lean proteins to vegetables in just minutes. Additionally, the MultiChef XL has the ability to incorporate microwave into its cooking parameters, making it even more versatile. You certainly won’t see us calling the MultiChef XL anything other than what it is, a high-speed oven that truly delivers, and has done so for over 15 years.

One thing to keep in mind, is that air fryers are similar to many cooking appliances that came before it, a trend. Like the George Foreman Grill or the Ronco Rotisserie, it is all about popularity until the next fad comes along. And while fads come and go, Motion Technology Inc., and our family of ventless kitchen equipment is still going strong, three decades and counting.
