National Pretzel Day: Celebrating with Three Tasty Dipping Sauce

National Pretzel Day1

Of all the underrated holidays, National Pretzel Day has to be at the top of the list! With their chewy exterior and deliciously doughy centers, soft pretzels are some of the tasty hand held snacks available to mankind. Served in locations all over, this salty treat works as an appetizer or lunch option, and here at MTI Products we just can’t get enough.

One of our favorite items to whip up in our ventless high-speed oven, the MultiChef XL are soft pretzels. In just a minute and five seconds we serve them up perfectly prepared. The only thing better than eating a freshly baked pretzel straight from the oven, is having an array of sauces to dip it in! We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate National  Pretzel Day than sharing our favorite sauces with all of you.

The first dipping sauce we want to share is a twist on a classic cheddar cheese sauce.  But instead of using a typical mild cheddar we chose to use a sharper white cheddar cheese.

Ingredients

2 cups sharp white cheddar cheese, shreddedpretzel

1 tbsp cornstarch

1 can, 12 oz evaporated milk

1/4 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp kosher salt

1/2 tsp ground black pepper

1/8 tsp cayenne pepper

Instructions

In a medium saucepan, combine cheese and cornstarch until cheese is evenly coated.

Mix in evaporated milk, salt, pepper, garlic powder and cayenne pepper and cook over medium heat until cheese is melted, whisking intermittently.

Cook for about 5 minutes.

Serve hot.

Our next dipping sauce is no stranger to soft pretzels. Our Kicked Up Mustard Sauce is the right combination of tang and spice. Each bite packs a real punch, we recommend serving with ice cold beers!

Ingredients

1/4 cup mayonnaiseCreole_Mustard

1/4 cup prepared yellow or Dijon mustard

2 tablespoons finely chopped onion

1 tablespoon ranch salad dressing mix

2-1/4 teaspoons prepared horseradish

Instructions

In a large bowl, combine the mayonnaise, mustard, onion, salad dressing mix and horseradish.

Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes so flavors can combine.

Our last and final dipping sauce is a bit on the sweeter side! Well a nice, salty pretzel is great, we have a weakness for the sweet as well. For a fun twist on dessert we like to coat our pretzels in cinnamon and sugar instead of salt. We serve these delectable treats with a chocolate hazelnut dip!

Ingredients

6 ounces cream cheese, softenedsweet pretzel

1/2 cup chocolate hazelnut spread

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 cup confectioners' sugar

1 cup heavy whipping cream, whipped

1/2 cup chopped hazelnuts

Instructions

In a medium sized bowl, mix together the cream cheese, vanilla and Nutella.

Whisk in confectioners' sugar until smooth.

Gently fold in  hazelnuts & whipped cream.
